Many spectators would be too exhilarated to resist their feelings when they see their national flag rise with the national anthem in Olympic Games. These sports feats can hardly be achieved without some specialized facilities to train the most promising sportsmen. Although patriotism can be aroused by excellent performance, I hold the view that more sports facilities should be built to cater for the need of the public.
On latent problem for the intended construction of specialized facilities exclusively for sportsmen is that it may dampen public’s enthusiasm for sports. Being discouraged from using the sports facilities, they are likely to believe that the access to sports is only a priority to a small proportion of top athletes. Whether these facilities can be utilized is based on how much contribution to the country instead of the basic principle that each individual has the right to shape their bodies by some sports facilities.
Another problem that will arise is that the potential talent pool of gifted athletes will be drained and lose its continuous supply. Most top sportsmen are not born to the stars, and their aptitude of sports occurs when they are jogging on the playground, playing tennis in the tennis court and running on the football pitch. Without the sports facilities accessible to the common people, their sports talent is unlikely to be found and then fully harnessed.
There are certainly some benefits of the specialized facilities construction. The top sportsmen can be professionally trained without much disturb of the public, thereby concentrating on their physical practice. They can also make full of these facilities to boost their body and improve their professionalism. However, the beneficiaries are narrowly constrained with a small proportion of people and the sports resources are somewhat wasted.
In conclusion, the benefit of sports facilities should be enjoyed by more individuals rather than only meet the need of the sports elites.

Some countries today invest huge amount of money on specialized facilities for the training of their top athletes to achieve sporting success internationally. I think this investment is rewarding as long as it is not at the expenses of the sports facilities for the public.
The benefits of athletes winning on international sports arena such as Olympic Games or the World Cup Championship are multiple. For the athletes, who often come from economically underprivileged families, a champion can save them from their financial embarrassment, not just for themselves, but for the entire families as well. An Olympic champion, furthermore, can become a national hero and serve as the role model for numerous young people, who will try to be as hard-working, self-disciplined, and persistent as the champion. Most importantly, a hard-won champion title can even bring pride to the entire nation and help the nation to move on, especially in hard times.
However, more international champions should not become the excuse to cut down on the investment on the public sports facilities. A country without adequate sports facilities for the general public can never be truly encouraged no matter how many world champions it boasts. You will understand the frustration when you put on your sports shirt and go out, spurred by the perfect performance of an athlete you love in an important game, only to find that all available gyms and stadiums are crowded, leaving you nowhere to go.
To conclude, international sporting success is necessary, which explains why a country ought to put money into specialized facilities to train its top athletes. However, if the government has to make a choice between the world champions and the public sports facilities, I will support the second one. To my mind, only when the general mass of people enjoy the adequate sports facilities will they be encouraged and motivated by their world champions.

When it comes to a phenomenon that some countries prefer to allocate more money to facilities designed for athletes rather than spend money on public facilities, some people argue that such a phenomenon may be a negative development, but I cannot agree with this opinion.
Admittedly, the public may lack facilities for exercise without devices provided by governments. It is acknowledged that governments’ budget is limited but what governments need to improve is countless. Providing that governments use money to purchase more professional devices for athletes, comparatively, the amount of fund for public facilities will be reduced. Then, some communities may even lack sports facilities for their residents. Nevertheless, it is still a positive development for countries to focus on training professional players.
To begin with, constructing more devices specialized for athletes could serve to maintain their performances. In order to defeat others in international games, such as the Olympic Games, countries, even after gaining a lot of golden medals, need to guarantee that their athletes could perform better in the future. It is natural and reasonable for those governments to fund their players and offer them better equipment and devices. Then, their players could maintain their performances and countries could gain honor and reputation from those matches as well.
In addition, sports facilities could be better used by athletes. Even in some communities where there are a lot of sports facilities accessible, occupied by work, citizens may neglect those facilities to some degree. Compared with building facilities for the public, allocating budgets to professional facilities seems more effective since most athletes will make use of those devices quite frequently. Thus, funding athletes could lead to a better utilization of sports facilities.
In sum, it is still positive for countries to concentrate on training athletes and provide them with more facilities, considering that players are potent to perform better in competitions and they could also make better use of those devices.
