Modernization has considerably outpaced the construction of new cities, thus resulting in many troubles in people’s life. Under pressure, the government needs to identify them to reduce complaints from citizens.
Commercial development gives a facility to urbanization in some cities where the basic infrastructure does not match the needs of enormous flow of dwellers. In some cases, the shortage of transportation means that the road would be blocked by vehicles especially during rush hours. This low efficient traffic can have negative implications on business to some extent. Apart from stagnated traffic, there are accommodation issues to be considered. This is because the advances of economy surely require large numbers of migrants. If single-storey constructions without necessary facilities including heating, sewage system and even electricity supply take a dominating place in city, it would be difficult for those workers to dwell comfortably.
To solve the problems identified above, the most influential factor may be the government who is responsible for modifying the old cities. Perhaps viaducts are needed to accommodate more vehicles and underground traffic systems such as railways or underpass tunnels can serve to ease road traffic dramatically. Persuading estate companies to construct more functional concrete jungles would probably be an effective strategy to mitigate the terrible living or working conditions. It would also help to improve the overlook of city if some districts are demolished for central business areas, public parks or statues.
Overall, the governors play a vital role in city development, and tax payers should have the awareness of maintaining their new cities.

In the current era, there exist some cities and towns built in old times and some residents still dwell in those places. This essay may examine the possible problems caused by it and how to tackle those issues.
To begin with, old towns and cities may bring economic burden to governments. Having existed for a long time, some buildings in those cities and towns may be eroded to some degree. Then, in order to maintain the security of dwellers, governments need to allocate more budgets to refurbish those buildings. Considering that some building materials may be either difficult to be found or extremely expensive, it will result in a budget deficit of governments.
In addition, citizens may suffer inconvenience living in those areas. It is common that some historical cities and towns may not run an advanced transportation system. The underground and trains are not utilized there since governments also find it challenging to reconstruct those cities and towns. Subsequently, local residents, as well as tourists, may have to spend more time on traffic without modern vehicles.
In order to tackle these issues, governments should take the initiative to transform those old cities and towns into modern ones. To be more specific, for some cities and towns that witness a long history, governments need to be really cautious and try to maintain those cultural heritages and sites during the process of reconstruction since those heritages and sites could be utilized as tourism resources to increase income. For other cities and towns, the rebuilding project by governments should be accelerated, which allows local residents to enjoy a more convenient life earlier.
In sum, those old cities and towns may lead to budget deficit of governments and inconvenience of citizens. To cope with budget deficit, governments could choose to increase revenue through developing tourism; to provide citizens with a more comfortable life, governments should rebuild their cities quickly.
雅思范文【3】
Many cities and towns built a few hundred years ago have become obsolete now, no matter how brilliant they used to be, for they are no longer suitable for life today.
In my view, these cities and towns may cause three kinds of problems. At the basic level, they can no longer provide satisfactory conditions for our modern existence. A bit more than 100 years ago, people did not use buses or cars, so the city did not have broad streets; people did not travel by train or airplane, so the city was not equipped with any railway station or airport; most people shopped in the stores near their homes, so the city did not have to have shopping malls or supermarkets. As more and more people rush into urban areas, the city has expanded with the population, and modern urban people would find themselves unable to survive without the broad streets, the train, the airplane and the supermarket. Meanwhile, cities and towns built centuries ago do not have enough entertainment and sports facilities available to contemporary city dwellers who, relieved of the manual labor by the technological advances, suddenly find they have a great amount of free time. For example, these cities and towns are not likely to have 3-D or IMAX movie theaters for movie fans, or huge stadiums for sports fans. Consequently, people may find their life in such cities and towns are most boring and tedious. Finally, the cities and towns constructed long time ago cannot possibly have anticipated the negative effects of environmental issues brought over by our modern life, so they usually have residence area, industrial area and business area all mixed up without separating them. This is, of course, unbearable to our urban life style today.
While the century-aged cities and towns may carry much cultural and historical value, they must be re-constructed in the interest of people living in them today. The city infrastructure must be reshaped and include such facilities as shopping centers, sports stadiums, wide streets and pavements and provide services like metro, train, and airplane. And to minimize the unfavorable effects of modern life on urban populace, the cities and towns should be set the areas apart by their respective functions.
